Level 80 is an amazing benchmark to hit so soon after the expansion pack. Many many congratulations to Nymh. Many commenters on WoWInsider and other sites were completely and utterly shocked that someone would be able to hit such a mark so soon. But, there’s more to it than meets the eye. More after the jump.
What seperates a casual player from a hardcore or progression oriented player? Is it just the level of dedication? Is it the planning required to execute the task at hand. I suspect that it’s quite frequently a combination of factors that goes into the planning and execution of being able to reach the goal they set out for themselves.
A lot of what inspired me to join Resolve, a brand new progression guild, was the motivation to be among the first and best. I wanted to be the trail-blazer of the new content, helping come up with new strategy for boss fights and encounters which were not documented.
So, do you have what it takes? Lets look at the question a bit closer .. I think it comes down to several factors.
1.) How long have you been playing the game?
2.) How good are you at tedious tasks which are required to meet an end goal?
3.) Are you new to the MMO game-style, or are you the type of player which is familiar with the long quest/grind to a certain level cap?
Perhaps the questions can lead to some insight. Having a good strategy and plan at the onset can really help you reach goals faster. If your goal is to level fast, several things (which may be common sense to some, but I feel they still bear repeating) must be pointed out.
Always stack quests in the same area together.
Kill quests and quests which require drops tend to be the best ones to do. Low drop rates may seem tedious at the onset, but in reality the longer you spend grinding on the same mobs, the less running around you do which translates to more xp/hour.
Always bring pots, bandages, well fed food, and anything else which will lessen the downtime of your character.
Always spec for a talent set which will increase the damage you do while maintaining a low downtime.
So, do you feel you have what it takes? Leave a comment on your tips ![]()

A pretty good tool to use when leveling is QuestHelper. Precise coordinates to all your current quests. The greatest benefit of it however, is that you can prioritize your time spent leveling in a zone to minimize your traveling. If any should decide to try out QuestHelper, pair it up with the most recent Cartographer map mod, it’ll make your life a whole lot easier.
